ABUJA, Nigeria- Former Governor of Abia State, Sen. Theodore Orji, and his son, Chinedu have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over alleged N48 billion security votes.
The former governor was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and has been whisked to the EFCC headquarters for interrogation.
Theodore Orji’s son is also said to be in the custody of the EFCC. There are reports that the Theodore and his son will also account for N2billion Ecological Fund.
Theodore Orji ruled Abia state from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He will likely be the first governor to be prosecuted over security vote which is unaccounted for in Nigeria and has been an avenue through which all the governors that have ruled Nigeria and those presently serving perpetrate humongous fraud.
