Makinde calls for aid to Oyo as Maigida Charity Foundation donates e-library to LAUTECH

IBADAN, Oyo, Nigeria – People of good will and all well-meaning citizens of Oyo State were on Thursday urged to assist the state and its institutions. The state governor Engr Seyi Makinde made the call at the commissioning ceremony of a state-of-the-art e-library donated to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, Oyo State, by a foremost educational and all inclusive philanthropic organisation in Nigeria, Maigida Charity Foundation.
The donation was made sequel to a similar gesture earlier in 2019 when the foundation donated an e- library to the post-graduate school of the Nasarawa State University in Keffi Nasarawa State.
Speaking in appreciation of the gesture at the inauguration of the Dr Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida Lautech Alumni e-Library, Governor Makinde, represented by Prof. Deji Omole, Chairman of the institution’s Council, thanked Maigida Charity Foundation for the quantum of the project and the laudable initiative, enjoining all well-meaning citizens to come to the side of the state and its institutions.
Earlier in his welcome address, the LAUTECH Alumni Association global president Hon. Solomon Onilede, stated that the association muted the idea of having an e -library for their Alma mata in response to global needs and current desires.
Revealed Onilade: “At our global retreat in Lagos in April 2018, we approached the founder of the Maigida Charity Foundation, Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida for partnership or donations for the Alumni Association proposed Lautech e-Library but surprisingly, he promised that the foundation will take full responsibility for the construction of the edifce”
He therefore lauded the foundation and prayed that other Nigerians could emulate the gesture. In his remarks, Chairman of the Maigida Charity Foundation, Elder Badmus Gbadamosi, admonished the institution to put the e-Library to good use for the mass of the students and the public at large, pledging that the foundation would always be ready to support the growth of the e-library in particular and the institution in general. He revealed that the foundation was ready to partner with the Alumni Association and the institution to take the library to the next level.
Receiving the e-library donation on behalf of the institution, Prof Mojeed Liasu, acting Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, commended the Alumni Association and the project sponsors, Maigida Charity Foundation for the laudable initiative, noting that the university would do all within it’s powers to keep the e-Library in good use with adequate and well qualified personnel .
