APGA Youths demand credible governorship primary in Anambra

LAGOS, Nigeria – All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Youths from the 21 local government area of Anambra State on Friday staged a peaceful protest, calling on the national chairman of the party, Mr. Victor Oye to use the party structure in the conduct of the governorship primary, June 23,2021 .
The Youths leaders, Comrade Michael Anyaegbulem who addressed the party chieftains at the party office in Awka Anambra State said they were in the secretariat to tell the national chairman of the party to ensure that the party structures are used in the conduct of the governorship primary in the state .
According to him, APGA youths would not allow the United -Anambra Youths Assembly U-UYA and United Anambra Women Assembly U-UWA to be part of the delegates to determine who become the party flag bearer at the November 6 governorship election .
“We want free, fair and credible primary election in the selection of who flies the APGA party ticket .
We don’t want manipulation in the process to select flag bearer of the party, so that APGA will be united after the primary. We don’t want the party to use U-AWA and U- AYA in the delegates list for the primary election.” he said

He also appealed to the party officials to carry the party youths along in the process of the electioneering in the state .
According to him ,no party can thrive without active participations of the youths. Addressing the protesting APGA youths, the state APGA youths leader ,Mr. Magnus Eziokwu who represented the party national chairman Mr. Victor Oye commended the protesting youths for their peaceful conducts and assured that the party primary would be free ,fair and credible.
According to him, the national chairman is youth-friendly and would not do anything that would relegate the youth to the background. He said that the national chairman had made it clear that the youths and the women will feature prominently in the governorship primary , noting that the youths are recognised as critical stakeholders in APGA .
According to Eziokwu , U-AWA and U- AYA are only support groups of the party ,saying that the party need them and cannot throw them away. U- AWA and U- AYA are support groups to the party ,we need them in the party and we cannot drive them away from the party ” he said .
U- AWA and U- AYA are APGA support group headed by the House member representing Anambra East and West at the Federal House of representative Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe that donated 26 Siena buses to Prof Charles Soludo campaign organisation last week and gave him N22 million to buy nomination form.
