ABUJA, Nigeria – Jewelries worth N14.4billion and houses valued at $80 million forfeited by the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison Diezani Madueke are still in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).
Chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa made the revelation when he appeared before the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating the status of all recovered loot moveable and immovable assets from 2002-2020 by agencies of government.
According to him, “jewelries forfeited by the former minister have been valued by relevant government agencies and the estimated value of the jewelries is 14.4 billion naira.”
He told the committee that the estimated value of the houses seized from Diezani is $80 million and that all the properties are still in the custody of the commission and have not been sold.
Abdulrasheed Bawa was appointed last year following the sack of former chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu over allegations of fraud regarding diversion and sales of assets forfeited to the federal government.
