ONITSHA, Nigeria – Anambra State government has shut down Royal Ambassador Foundation Schools, Onitsha for violating directive on school resumption following the onset of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Anambra State Ministry of Basic Education in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary Dr Nwando Obiano, and made available to newsmen in Awka said the school allowed their students and pupils to resume on January 18th 2021 and started lessons without putting on face masks.
According to the statement, the flagrant disobedience to government’s directive by the school was an indication that it is not serving the best interest of the education in the state as well as that of the students and pupils.
The release urged parents to withdraw their children from the school, saying that the school shall remain closed as its approval has been withdrawn.
Recall that , Anambra State government directed that teachers should resume school on 18th January while pupils are to resume on 1st February 2021 as part efforts to contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
