    Coronavirus: 11, 055 active in Nigeria, 296 new as India leads with 75,809 new cases

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed  296 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing all time cases in Nigeria to 55,456.

    Out of the 55,456 all time cases,  43,334  patients have been discharged, while  1,067 others  have passed on, leaving Nigeria with 11, 055  active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Plateau-183,  Lagos-33,  Abuja-25,  Ogun-16, Oyo-7, Ekiti-6, Kwara-5, Ondo-5, Anambra-3, Imo-3, Nasarawa-3, Rivers-2, Gombe-2, Edo-2 and Akwa Ibom-1, making a total of 296 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov296 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Plateau-183, Lagos-33, FCT-25, Ogun-16, Oyo-7, Ekiti-6, Kwara-5, Ondo-5, Anambra-3, Imo-3, Nasarawa-3, Rivers-2, Gombe-2, Edo-2, Akwa Ibom-1; 55,456 confirmed 43,334 discharged 1,067 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    On the global scene  there are now 27, 437, 294 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 894, 430 deaths, while  18, 388, 271  others have survived the pandemic, the Centre for System Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has said.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted by the Coronavirus pandemic, reporting 6, 324, 042 all time cases,  189, 538 deaths, while 2, 359, 111 others have been able to overcome the pandemic, leaving the U.S with 3, 775, 393 active cases of the pandemic(27, 021 new cases), followed by India with 4, 280, 422 confirmed cases, 72, 775 deaths, while 3, 323, 950 patients have survived, leaving India with 883, 697  active cases of Coronavirus(75, 809 new cases) and Brazil, which has documented 4, 147, 794 all time cases, 126, 960 deaths, while 3, 549, 201 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Brazil with 471, 633 patients hoping to survive the pandemic(10, 273 new cases).

    In the 4th spot among the worst hit nations is Russia with 1, 032, 354 all time cases, 17, 939 deaths and 847, 746 recoveries, leaving Russia with 166, 669 active cases of the virus, followed by Peru with 691, 575 confirmed cases, 29, 976 deaths, while 522, 251 others have been cured of the pandemic, leaving Peru with 139, 348 active cases of the  pandemic(1, 598 new cases) and Colombia, 6th in the league with 671, 553 all time cases of Coronavirus,  21, 611 deaths, while 529, 017 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Colombia with 121, 925 active cases of the pandemic(5,032 new cases).

     South Africa is 7th in the rank, reporting 640, 441 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 15, 086 deaths, while 567,729 others have survived the pandemic, leaving South Africa with 57, 626 Coronavirus patients(1,079 new cases), followed by Mexico with 637,509 all time cases,  67, 781 deaths, while 531, 334 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Mexico with  38, 394 active cases of the virus(3, 486 new cases) and Spain, which has documented 534, 513 confirmed cases, 29, 594 deaths, while 150, 376 patients have been discharged, leaving Spain with 354, 543 patients to treat for Coronavirus(8, 964 new cases).

     Argentina has stepped up to 10th spot with 488, 007 confirmed cases, 10,179 deaths,  while  366, 590 patients are now  in good health, leaving Argentina with 111, 238 active cases of Coronavirus(9,215 new cases), followed by Chile with 425, 541 all time cases,  11, 682 deaths, while 397, 730 patients have been discharged, leaving Chile with 16, 129 patients in hospitals, hoping to come out alive, followed by Iran, which has reported 391, 112 confirmed cases of Coronavirus,  22, 542 deaths, while 337, 414 patients  have been cured, leaving Iran with 31, 156 active cases of Coronavirus.

    France, 13th in the league has reported  373, 718  all time cases, 30, 770 deaths and 88, 876 recoveries, leaving France with 254, 072 patients to treat for Coronavirus(6,623 new cases), followed by the United Kingdom(14) with 354, 917  confirmed cases, 41, 675 deaths, while only  1, 827 patients have been able to overcome the pandemic, leaving the U.K with 311, 415 Coronavirus patients(2, 469 new cases), followed by Italy(19) which has documented  280, 153 confirmed cases of the pandemic, 35, 563 deaths, while 210, 801 patients have been given clean bill of health, leaving Italy with 33, 789 active cases of Coronavirus(1, 369 new cases) and China which has been pushed to the 36 spot in the leagues of most affected countries.

    China where the pandemic was first reported has confirmed 90, 085 all time cases, 4, 733 deaths, while 84, 923 others have recovered from the pandemic, leaving China with 429 active cases of Coronavirus virus.
