LAGOS, Nigeria- The Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM) has invited Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Debo Ogundoyin and the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa as guest speakers at its second annual international migration summit slated for Western Hall, Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan on October 15, 2020.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday, President JIFORM, Ajibola Abayomi said the invitees were crucial to the advancement of advocacy on migration matters, as the media body targets production of glossary of migration terminologies for over 10,000 journalists and media organizations across Africa and other continents.

He commended Governor Makinde and NiDCOM over the rescues of several stranded Nigerians both in Lebanon and other countries in the recent times.

The event themed Migration Governance and Media Strategy for Development During Pandemic is to accommodate both physical and virtual presentations and it is to be chaired by Kenyan prominent international speaker and law professor, Patrick Lumumba. It will alos feature former Canada Immigration Minister, Honourable Gerry Weiner, Ms Johanna Mac from Germany, Eric Chinje, an Harvard trained migration advocate from the US, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State and others.

The summit would be officially unveiled by Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, MFR with participation from International Organization for Migration (IOM) both in Nigeria and Gambia as well as National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) led by Barrister Julie Okoli.

Ajibola, further explained that the summit,  a forum for stakeholders capacity enhancement and promotion of safe, regular and order migration is opened for registration at no cost on its website,  https://www.jiformalert.org.
