New Era Foundation donates 10,000 books to LASG
IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – As part of activities marking its 20th anniversary, the New Era Foundation, organisers of the annual Spelling Bee competition for Primary and Secondary schools in Lagos State, has donated 10,000 copies of a compendium of words spelt during the annual competition since its inception.
The New Era Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political organisation, established by the former first lady of Lagos State and the current Senator representing Lagos Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu.
Presenting the copies of the compendium to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, Senator Tinubu expressed optimism that in addition to boosting the vocabulary of participants, the New Era Dictionary would further contribute to the development of Primary and Secondary education in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who thanked Senator Tinubu and the Foundation for the gesture, promised the State government’s continued collaboration to ensure that the project becomes an enduring legacy.
A student from one of the Secondary Schools in the state, who represented others at the ceremony, MissTijani Oluwaseyu, expressed appreciation to all the stakeholders.
Earlier, Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, had described the New Era Foundation as a veritable partner in the development of the sector in the state.
