    Fedotov, ex-DG Russian Authors Society on trial for 730 million Ruble fraud

    MOSCOW, Russia – The Presnensky District Court, Moscow  has  arraigned former Director General of the Russian Authors’ Society (RAO), Mr. Sergey Fedotov and his accomplices for  over 730 million-ruble fraud (about $10 million).

    Court papers obtained by Rapsi, revealed that there are five defendands, including Sergey Fedotov’s mother and ex-employee of the Russian Authors’ Society, Svetlana Temeshova, who have entered a guilty plea and seek  a special procedure trial, without evidence examination and witness questioning.

    In December 2018, Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court ordered Sergey Fedotov and  other accused be placed in detention. Investigators believe that they transferred the authors’ royalties  to a fake accounts and then withdrew the money.

    In June 2017, Sergey Fedotov was convicted in his first embezzlement case and sentenced to 1.5 years behind bars. In December 2017, he was released on parole.
