LAGOS, Nigeria – Confirmed cases of Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic has jumped to 70 in Nigeria. According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the number rose to 70 after discovery of 5 new cases of the pandemic.

According to the NCDC, of the five new cases, 3 were confirmed in Abuja, and two in Oyo State, bringing the total number of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 70.

“Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 3 in FCT & 2 in Oyo State As at 08:00 pm 27th March there are 70 cases of confirmed #COVID19 reported Nigeria. 3 have been discharged with 1 death”, the NCDC said.

Meanwhile the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has called on all transport operators and park managers are to provide at the entrance to their respective parks/garages, hand washing facilities with soap and running water.

“They are to provide alcohol-based sanitizers in their vehicles for the use of drivers, conductors and passengers.Standing is prohibited in public mass transit buses and there must be a minimum of one seat interval between passengers. Tricycles are limited to three passengers and commercial motorcycles are limited to one passenger only.

“Again, I enjoin everyone to work with us and do everything in their power to practice social distancing. With commitment and the grace of God we shall conquer this. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless Oyo State”, he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 528 025 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed globally with 23,672 deaths. United Statea now has the highest numer of confirmed cases worldwide, reporting 85,991, with 1,296 deaths followd by China with 82,079 with 3,298 deaths.

Italy is next with 80, 539 cases with 8, 165 deaths, followed by Spain with 56,188 confirmed cases and 4, 089 deaths. See chart here for global distribution of the COVID-19 pandemic.
