Abraham Ingobere elected Bayelsa Speaker as former resigns
YENEGOA, Bayelsa, Nigeria – Former Speaker of Bayelsa House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Monday Obolo has resigned. His resignation paved way for the election of a new speaker, Rt Hon. Abraham Ingobere.
Monday Obolo resigned following the swearing in last Friday of Senator Duoye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa State. The former Speaker, Monday Obolo hails from the same area with the governor.
Speaking at a reception with the governor, Duoye Diri said the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo hails from the same senatorial zone as me.
“He was matured and patriotic enough to have resigned to allow for equitable distribution of political power among the three senatorial zones”, he said, and thanked members of the House for their unanimous decision and for allowing internal democracy to prevail as it should be”, he said.
