OLD BAILEY, London – The law has caught up with  Sergey Koudriavstev, 48, after killing his mother  Tatiana who is 68 and his father, Vladimir Kourdriavstev(69) in cold blood.  On Thursday, 3 October,   he pleaded guilty to the murder of his mother Tatiana and his father Vladimir at their flat in Appleford Road, W10.

Sergey Koudriavstev, the murderer

At the Old Bailey on Friday, 11 October, he was sentenced to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 26 years. His journey to prison started Thursday 23 May, at approximately 06:29hrs, when he  phoned Surrey police and stated he had called to ‘surrender himself for murder’.

He went on to explain that he had killed two family members at a flat in Adair Tower, Appleford Road and was calling from Chiddingfold, Goldalming in Surrey. Surrey officers attended and found Sergey sat on a bench in a churchyard area and they arrested him for murder at 06:52 hours.

“As a result of that information, Met officers went to the address he had provided where the bodies of his parents were discovered.
A post-mortem examination for both took place on Saturday, 25 May and gave the cause of death as stab wounds. Detectives from Specialist Crime South (Homicide) conducted an investigation”, the Met police said.

Sergey told officers he had moved into his parents’ home some three years ago. He had brought his Neapolitan mastiff(dog), called Enzo, with him, but as Enzo got older, his health deteriorated and he felt his parents were exacerbating his problems. He said they would open windows in the flat and create draughts, which he felt was making his dog poorly.

On the day of the murder he told police he had argued with his parents and then decided to kill them. Following the attacks, Koudriavstev left the flat with Enzo, who he dropped off at a veterinary surgery. The dog was later re-homed through an animal charity.

Sergey was charged with two counts of murder on the afternoon of Friday, 24 May.  He appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 25 May and was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey.

DCI Rob Pack from Specialist Crime (Homicide) said: “This was a very sad case in which an elderly couple have been brutally murdered by their own son. Koudryavstev’s explanation for his acts of parricide is hard to comprehend and I am thankful such incidents are rare.

“This was one of the first cases investigated by one of the Met’s new Homicide Teams launched earlier this year and it proved to be both tragic and disturbing. I would like to formerly acknowledge the dedication of all the officers and staff who worked so hard on this investigation ensuring Koudryavstev was brought to justice.”
