Gtbank debunks report alleging takeover, rolls out the facts

LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria’s foremost financial institution, Guarantee Trust Bank(Gtbank) has debunked media reports alleging that Innoson Motors has taken over the bank based on a judgement it obtaind from a Federal High Court based in Ibadan.
In a statement laying out the facts, the bank described the report as not only false but malicious.
Gtbank noed that that the Judgment alleged in the malicious report is a Judgment against the account of the Nigerian Customs and Excise Board domiciled with GTBank and not against GTBank as an entity.
“It is important to state, that the Judgment allegedly in issue, is a Judgment against the account of the Nigerian Customs and Excise Board domiciled with GTBank and not against GTBank as an entity”, the bank said, adding that GTBank as a law abiding corporate citizen is taking all necessary legal steps to address this situation and ensure that no illegal or fraudulent execution is carried out.

“The attention of Guaranty Trust Bank plc (“GTBank/the Bank”) has been drawn to the purported enforcement of a Judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan at one of its branches in Anambra State.
It is important to state, that the Judgment allegedly in issue, is a Judgment against the account of the Nigerian Customs and Excise Board domiciled with GTBank and not against GTBank as an entity.
