AKURE, Ondo, Nigeria – An Ondo State High Court today sentenced Seidu Adeyemi, the alleged killer of Adenike Kadijat Oluboyo, daughter of Lasisi Oluboyo, former Deputy Governor of Ondo State to death by hanging.

Adenike Kadijat Oluboyo, a 24-year-old final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, was found dead in the home of Seidu Adeyemi, her boyfriend.
The murderer, a 2012 Quantity Surveying graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, allegedly strangled, dismembered and buried her in a grave he dug in his bedroom, and slept on the decomposing corpse for six days in what has been described as ritual murder.
The suspect is said to be the son of a bricklayer, Alhaji Alani Alao, who hails from Osun State. Seidu Adeyemi denied killing her but that she was killed by two men who kept her in his residence.
In sentencing him, Justice Samuel Bola said the autopsy report submitted by the police confirmed that the deceased did not die of any natural cause.
Besides, the learned judge noted that the court did not believe the testimony of the defendant who claimed that the deceased was killed by two men who asked him to bury her in his room and that prosecution has been able to proved their case beyond reasonable doubt that the deceased death was intentionally caused.
He consequently sentenced him to die by hanging. Seidu Adeyemi was charged for killing his girlfriend, Khadijat Oluboyo, on July 2, 2018 and was remanded in prison by a magistrate court.
