Revealed: Ex-President Jonathan backed emergency of APC senator-elect
YENEGOA, Bayelsa, Nigeria – The Bayelsa East Youth Alliance has called on former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to maintain his neutral role in this Saturday’s State House of Assembly election in the state.
The group said the neutral role adopted by the former President helped to ensure the emergence of APC’s Bishop Degi Ereminyo, as Senator-elect from the zone.
A statement signed by the Director of Publcity of the group, Mr. Iniobio Amos maintained that Jonathan must be commended for his neutrality as he was quoted as saying that all those who are contesting are his children regardless of the party they belong, he is their father.
The group stressed that the former president’s assertion that a good father does not discriminate in a contest amongst his children is a wise counsel.
The group further urged the former President to play a similar role in Saturday’s House of Assembly election in the state as all contestants regardless of the party they belong are his children. The Bayelsa East Youth Alliance also thanked other leaders of the senatorial zone like King A.J Turner for throwing their weight behind APC candidates.
They equally appealed to Jonathan to continue to support President Buhari and to prevail on the president to make a case for a Bayelsa youth to be considered in his new cabinet since he promised that a huge percentage of youths will dominate his next cabinet.
