AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – The People Democratic Party (PDP) , Anambra State Chapter has described as curious the fire that gutted office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Awka, Anambra state on Tuesday that consumed all sensitive materials for the election.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Anambra state PDP Atiku -Obi presidential campaign council, Chief Oseloka Obaze and made available to journalists in Awka,he said the fire outbreak was a clear testimony that the INEC was not in charge and ready to conduct a credible elections.
Obaze who was a governorship candidate in Anambra state under PDP in 2017 said, if INEC cannot protect materials within its custody, it means it cannot guarantee a credible election that is free and fair.
He stated that the incessant fire outbreak among INEC offices across the country has confirmed PDP stands about INEC of not being prepared to give Nigerians credible election.
‘It is curious that just few days before the polls, fire gutted INEC offices across the country. This underline our persisting concerns about the readiness of INEC to conduct credible elections.
