DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT, FAMILY SURVIVE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
ABUJA, Nigeria – Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu today survived attempt to assassinate him and his family in his home in Abuja.
The assassins according to the Senator invaded his home at 4 am today and lead members of his family into his bedroom. He said one of the assassins was arrested during the struggle, while others escaped.
Also speaking on the incident, representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye said one of the assassins was arrested after serious wrestling and handed to policemen at Apo Police Station, adding that Nigerians now live in perilous times.
“Just spoke to Senator Ike Ekweremadu. There was an attempt to assasinate him about 4am this morning. One of the assains was arrested after serious wrestling. He has been handed over to the police in Apo Police Station. We are in Perilious times but God will continue to be God”, he said.
Also speaking, former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose described the development as warrisome, adding that it appears that security agencies are now more alive to the duty of invading NASS and residences of leadership.
“Nigeria under the APC govt of @MBuhari , assassination attempt was made on the Dep. Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his family, we should all be worried. It appears that our security agencies are now more alive to the duty of invading NASS and residences of its leadership”, he said.
