The unfolding drama in the G7 finally ended on Tuesday when all the governors in the group formally declared for the All Progressive Congress (APC).
G7 GOVERNORS JOIN APC
Chairman of the new PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, announced the decision to cross over to APC after a meeting at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja just few hours when their meeting with leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alahji Bamanga Tukur ended in deadlock.
Among the governors at the meeting were that of Rivers (Rotimi Amaechi), Kano(Rabiu Kwankwanso), Adamawa(Murtala Nyako), Kwara(Badulfatah Ahmed) and Niger(Dr. Babangida Aliyu).
The governors of Jigawa and Sokoto states, Sule Lamido and Aliyu Wamakko respectively were absent. Baraje said the governors were part of the decision.
Those present at the meeting were Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande; a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; and a former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, rtd., and the Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.
