Motorists have been warned to keep away from Komet/Kenda brand of tyres now in the market if they don’t want to be disappointed.

Mr. Paul Emema, a Lagos based motorist gave the warning based on his experience after using the tyres. He told Starconnectmedia that he regretted buying the brand few weeks ago when he wanted to change the four tyres in the vehicles he has been using.

He said the most disappointing aspect was that the tyres have manufacturing date ranging from 2011 to 2012.
“I bought two tyres in the first instance and I bought the other two one month later. But do you know that within few weeks of use each of the tyres started going bad. One occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge in the night, I discovered that there was serious vibration in the vehicle followed by reduction in speed. I managed the vehicle home only for my mechanic to discover that one of the tyres has swollen out of proportion.

“ I took the tyre to where I bought the new tyres for N9000 but they started begging. I had to pay N8,000, for another tyre of the same brand only for the second tyre to go the same way while I was returning from Ondo State”, he lamented, stressing that the brand of tyre is from China.

He called on the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to wake up from slumber and live up to its responsibility by ensuring that only tyres that are of good quality are allowed to come into country.
