PANCHKULA, India – Conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for raping two women 15 years ago has thrown Haryana, Panchkula and other Indian cities into a state of war.
Indian TV reports 30 dead in Panchkula and over 200 injured. Supporters of the Rahim Singh stormed the streets few minutes after the Haryana High Court announced the verdict. Rahim faces up to 7 years.

According to the TV, he was flown in helicopter to a makeshift jail and would be given an assistant.
Media houses were not spared in the orgy of violence as OB van of a broadcast station was toppled and set alight. Government offices including income tax office were burnt, empty train coaches were also torched.
So far curfew is now in place in Delhi with police and soldiers drafted to the street to halt the violence.
