Trade Union Congress (TUC) says it has received with great shock and sadness the death of three journalists at Ilesha, on their way from national assignment in Abuja.
TUC SHOCKED OVER DEATH OF JOURNALISTS
In a statement signed by President and Secretary of the union, Comrades Bala Kaigama and Musa Lawal, respectively, the TUC said the congress shares in the pain and earnestly identifies with the families of the bereaved and journalists throughout the country.
“It is unfortunate that the renowned journalists had their lives cut short in their prime. It was a big shock to the congress. Please accept our condolences on behalf of the National Administrative Council, National Executive Council and all affiliates of congress.
“While we pray God to give the families and the NUJ the fortitude to bear the losses and quick recovery for those injured, we still urge you not to be deterred by the twist of events.
“We however, wish to use this opportunity to charge government at all levels to deliver the dividends of democracy by fixing the roads and also ensuring that all practicing journalists are insured. Once again, may Allah grant the NUJ and bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loses”, he said.
