IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Proprietor of a school in Lagos, Gbolakale Olawoni, Babatunde Asanu alleged to be HIV positive and Abibat Sunday, now at large were today arraigned before an Ikeja High Court for N32 million fraud.
They were alleged to have on 27/6/08 conspired with intent to defraud obtained from Matitis Properties the sum of N10 million for sales of properties domiciled at number 1, 2, and 3 Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.
They were also alleged to have obtained by false pretense the sum of N22 million for sales of property at number 1,2,3 Awolowo Road, Ikeja, Lagos and thereby committed an offence punishable by law.
They all entered not guilty plea. In his application for bail, lawyer to the first defendant, Elvis Keshi argued that his client is a proprietor of a school in Lagos and would avail herself for the trial.
Counsel to the second defendant, S.C Ughe prayed the court to grant his client bail for health reasons. According to him, his client, is an HIV positive patient that has been in custody and has been reporting to court. He said he will ensure that his client is physically present in court.
