ZIMMER GUNSUL FRASCA WINS CONTRACT TO DESIGN U.S EMBASSY IN ASUNCION, PARAGUAY
WASHINGTON, United States – The Portland-based architect, Zimmer Gunsul Frasca has won contract to design the new U.S embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay.
The construction of the building will however be done by Caddell Construction Co., LLC of Montgomery.The embassy will sit on 14 acres of land. The building will contain a chancery, Marine security guard residence, support annex and facility for embassy community. The building will be completed in 2021, a statement from Office of Overseas Building Operation, OBO has said.
“The Department awarded Caddell Construction Co., LLC of Montgomery, Alabama the construction contract for the new Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay.
“The new Embassy complex will be constructed on the existing 14-acre Embassy site. The multi-building complex will include a chancery, Marine security guard residence, support annex, and facilities for the embassy community. The project is expected to be completed in 2021.
“The architect is Zimmer Gunsul Frasca of Portland, Oregon.As part of the Department’s Capital Security Construction Program, OBO has completed 133 new diplomatic facilities since 1999 with an additional 52 projects in design or under construction.
“OBO’s mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities that represent the U.S. government to the host nation and support our staff in the achievement of U.S. foreign policy objectives. These facilities represent American values and the best in American architecture, engineering, technology, sustainability, art, culture, and construction execution” the Bureau of Overseas Building Operation has said.
