2 DEAD AS BUILDING COLLAPSES IN POLICE BARRACKS, FIRE GUTS NIGERIAN BREWERIES
LAGOS, Nigeria – It was a dark Christmas for some families,,following the collapse of a building at High Way Police Barracks opposite Area F, Ikeja, Lagos.
The dead are Mr. danjuma and another male yet to be identified. General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu said their bodies have since be deposited at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary Yaba.
According to LASEMA, the toilets and stairway of wing D block were affected when the biilding collapsed at 4.00am.
The Commissioner of Police who was present at the scene ordered the evacuation of residents living in the affected building as well as other dilapidated buildings and the immediate demolition of the affected block.
In a related development the Agency also received a distress call of a fire incident at Nigeria Breweries Costain, Iganmu.
The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained but the fire engulfed the pallet section of the brewery burning several numbers of pallets and crates. A fire incident was also reported at the popular Kara Market in Ogun State.
