Lagos,Nigeria, July 26, 2016 – At least two people, a driver and a motorboy have been roasted in an accident involving a petrol tanker and an articulated truck in Lagos.
DRIVER, MOTORBOY ROASTED IN LAGOS AS FUEL TANKER BURSTS INTO FLAMES
The accident according to General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Mr. Michael Akindele occurred on Monday evening between the tanker laden with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirits(PMS), also called fuel and an articulated truck at Cele Bus Stop along Oshodi Apapa Expressway.
He said the truck truck collided with another long articulated truck branded Total and resulted into fire outbreak.
“Two mortalities were recorded, the drivers and motor boy were trapped and burnt to death inside the tanker. While other occupants of the other truck escaped without any injury”, he said.
According to him, content of the PMS spread through drainage to the nearby market and burnt part of the market and a taxi car packed by the side of the road.
He said that the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) and Nigeria Police Force and his Emergency Response Team(ERS) were present at the scene of the incident to contain it. He said proper investigation will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
