BNigeria, April 27, 2016 – Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has approved immediate construction and drilling of 37 solar-powered boreholes and 18 prototype primary healthcare centres in all the local government areas of the State excluding Bauchi and Dass Local Government Areas.
The gesture has been described as part of the governor’s determination to eliminate water-borne diseases and make public health services available to the people especially in the rural areas, in line with the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The approval, under the Sustainable Development Goals programmes, SDGs, also includes the construction of 18 staff accommodation quarters, 18 VIP toilets, 18 units of hospital equipments as well as the purchase and supply of 6 ambulances, drilling and installation of 55 hand pump fitted boreholes in the selected communities and renovation of one primary health care centre in Dass Local Government Area.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on development partners and non-governmental organizations, Alhaji Mansur Manu Soro who made the revelation said a project advisory committee, saddled with the responsibility of overseeing and implementing the project has confirmed that contractors were expected to mobilize to site latest Monday, 25th April 2016.
