January 17, 2016 – An Islamic organization Ahmadiya Muslim group has thrown its weight behind the on-going fight against corruption by the Federal Government, saying that all those connected with it must be brought to book.

The Amir of the group Mashhud Fashola told newsmen in Lagos that every individual that is involved in the $2.1 billion arms scam should be made known to the public and prosecuted accordingly. Fashola noted that the problem of inordinate ambition for insatiable accumulation of wealth by all means has great negative impact on the economy which has adversely brought acute poverty on the land.

He also emphasized that the incessant strikes that labour union usually hold also impacts negatively on the economy.
“While we claim to be religious, our conduct does not reflect any piety, charitable spirit, or concern for fellow human beings. Our conduct is thus tantamount to the worship of materialism against which the messiah has come to warn, if mankind does not want to face calamities on account of the wrath of God”.

Speaking on the group’s achievements in re-positioning Islam since its establishment in Nigeria 100 years ago, Fashola said that Ahmadiyya stood as a unifying factor for mankind and a guarantee of justice, peace, unity, harmony and prosperity.

“The effort of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria in our journey of 100 years has been to re-position Islam as a unifying factor for mankind by emphasizing that religion should bring all faithful servants together on the basis of uniform moral values, submission to the will of God and selfless service with love to all humanity without discrimination, as commanded by the Gracious and Merciful Lord of all creation”, he said.

“As parts of the centenary programme, we plan to establish more hospitals, farm settlements, and education institutions across the country. We are also organizing All African Youth Games to mark the centenary, apart from conferences”.
