Lagos to unlock traffic gridlock with special squad
October 14, 2015 – The Ministry of Transportation has put together an inter-agency collaborative team to unlock traffic gridlock across the metropolis.
The team which comprises Officers from LASTMA, KAI, Task Force, VIS and the RRS would commence operations on the Ikorodu road axis covering Ojota, Ketu and Mile 12 in the first instance.
Briefing the team on the importance of the exercise, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu said the exercise is to complement the statewide efforts of LASTMA management in ensuring that all impediments on the road are removed so as to ensure free flow of traffic.
He therefore called on all motorists especially commercial bus drivers to obey all traffic rules and regulations adding that all traffic offenders would be penalised accordingly.
He said the State Government would no longer tolerate impunity and lawlessness being experienced now on the road.
