Buhari declines proposal for N400m new bullet proof car
July 7, 2015 – Attempt to make President Muhammadu to order a customized amoured Mercedez Benz S-600 limousine estimated to cost about N400million failed on Wednesday when he turned down the request.
We gathered that the President decided that he would rather use vehicles left behind by his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan left behind.
According to a source, the proposal was tabled before him when Permanent Secretary (State House), Mr. Nebolisa Emodi met him for briefing.
We gathered that the President then directed that the proposal be dropped. According to the source the proposal was initially tabled before Jonathan in his last days in office, and he advised that the plan be left for Buhari.
Buhari, according to Channelstv online told the Permanent Secretary that the cars left behind by the Jonathan administration were good enough for him and advised him to capture expenses in the State House in the approved budget to avoid the frequent recourse to him to intervene.
