June 5, 2015 – Not less than 150 people were roasted Thursday in Accra, capital of Ghana. We gathered that the fire started on Wednesday night as residents struggled to cope with two days flooding which left many residents homeless.

We gathered that most of those affected where residents taking shelter in the petrol station after the flood chased them away from their homes.
President John Dramani Mahama has announced three days of national mourning to begin on Monday. The President who visited the scene of the incident described the deaths as “catastrophic” and “almost unprecedented”, vowing to take measures that will stop residents from building on water channels.
“I think that the time has come for us to remove houses out of water paths and the public should understand that it is necessary to save everybody else,” he said, adding that government would release £9m to help flood victims. So far school children have been asked to stay at home.

Yaw who survived the incident said he was sleeping in his car at the petrol station when he heard the fire. “I was swept away by the water to the other side. I saw so many people screaming and shouting,” he said.
