OGUN, Nigeria – The socio-cultural group representing the Igbos in Ogun State, the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, has endorsed and pledged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) in the 2027 elections for President and Governor of Ogun State, respectively.
The President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in Ogun State, Eze Stephen Okorie, disclosed this cheery news to Senator Adeola over the weekend when he led a 5-man delegation to pay a courtesy visit and inform him of the chieftaincy title of “Dike Eji Eje Mba” the socio-cultural group has conferred on the Senator.
Eze Okorie disclosed that the installation ceremony for the chieftaincy title, slated for the end of the month in Abeokuta, will also witness the open endorsement of the Senator and a declaration by the Igbos to support all APC candidates in Ogun State.
“I have been a resident in Ogun State for the last 36 years, living in Owode-Yewa in Yewa South LGA of Ogun State. We have been watching the politics and development in Ogun State, and based on the massive development that Senator Adeola has attracted to Ogun State in the last three years—particularly in the areas of market infrastructure and road construction to promote trade and commerce—the Igbos have no hesitation in endorsing the Senator for Governor of Ogun State and Tinubu for President in the 2027 election,” he stated.
He further stated that, on a personal level, he has constructed five campaign billboards for Tinubu and Yayi across the state on behalf of the Igbos, as well as produced many campaign materials for the Senator and APC, stressing that the support of the Igbos for the Senator is also to redress the injustice against the people of Ogun West in not producing a governor since the creation of the state.
“We have heard your positive story while you were in Lagos in areas of development and humanitarian deeds, and since you came to Ogun State, you have continued in the same stride. We are confident that as governor, you will do more for the people of the state and all Nigerians resident in the state,” he stated while addressing his audience in a mixture of Igbo, Yoruba, and English language.
In appreciation of their gesture, Senator Adeola disclosed that while in Lagos, the Igbos equally supported his political journey, and the Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos bestowed on him the title of “Dike Di Ora Nma” of Lagos State, stressing that his attraction of development and goodwill gestures is targeted at all people in society, irrespective of tribe or religion.
“My brand of politics is the politics of inclusion and delivery of good governance for all people. When roads, schools, hospitals, and other infrastructure are constructed, it is for the good of all, and all law-abiding Nigerians are welcome to do business and make progress in Ogun State,” Senator Adeola stated.
In attendance at the courtesy visit were the deputy governorship candidate of the APC in Ogun State, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa Balogun; Dr. Kunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare; Hon. Laolu Olabimtan, Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, APC Ogun West senatorial candidate; and other APC candidates.
