- Tehran defies West with vow to keep enriching uranium as ‘undisputed right’
By SCM REPORTER
TEHRAN is ramping up the nuclear heat tonight after vowing it will NEVER stop enriching uranium.
In a move set to spark fresh panic in the West, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has declared that the country has an “undisputed right” to continue its controversial nuclear activities.
Spokesman Ismael Baqaei issued the chilling defiance today, insisting that Tehran will press ahead with enrichment at levels it deems necessary for “national needs.”
The provocative statement comes as a massive blow to international hopes of cooling tensions in the Middle East. It signals a hardline stance just as global powers were scrambling to pull the regime back from the brink of a nuclear breakout.
Speaking to reporters, Baqaei was unrepentant. He told a packed press conference: “Iran will continue to enrich uranium.
“Iran has the undisputed right to continue enriching uranium at levels necessary for its national needs.”
The defiant message is a direct middle finger to UN watchdogs and Western intelligence agencies, who have long feared that Tehran’s “national needs” are actually a smokescreen for building a nuclear bomb.
The timing of Baqaei’s statement is critical. Over the last year, the shadow war between Iran and Israel has frequently threatened to boil over into a total regional conflict.
The 60% Purity Problem: UN inspectors from the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) have previously warned that Iran has already stockpiled uranium enriched to 60% purity.
The Threshold: Weapons-grade uranium requires 90% purity. Experts warn that the jump from 60% to 90% is a “short, technical step” that could be achieved in a matter of weeks if the Supreme Leader gives the order.
Failed Diplomacy: Recent efforts to revive a nuclear deal—intended to swap sanctions relief for a freeze on enrichment—now appear to be in tatters.
Critics in London and Washington will see this latest outburst as proof that Tehran is no longer interested in a deal and is instead racing toward “nuclear threshold” status—where they possess all the components to assemble a warhead at a moment’s notice.
Last night, security sources warned that the “undisputed right” rhetoric usually precedes a surge in centrifuge activity, potentially pushing the world closer to a terrifying new arms race.
