HOLLYWOOD golden girl Sydney Sweeney has found herself in a right tangle with the law after turning the world-famous Hollywood sign into a giant washing line.
The Euphoria actress, 28, is facing potential charges of trespassing and vandalism after scaling the 45-foot-tall letters in the dead of night to drape them in bras.
What was meant to be a cheeky promo for her new lingerie line, SYRN, has gone down like a lead balloon with Los Angeles officials, who say the star had no right to be climbing the protected landmark.
The ‘Heist’
In a video shared with her 22 million followers, the blonde bombshell was seen sneaking past security fences with a production crew and duffel bags full of underwear.
After scrambling up the steep hillside, Sweeney was filmed stringing a clothesline of bras across the iconic “H,” at one point whispering to the camera: “I’m gonna get caught at this rate.”
While her team reportedly secured a basic permit from FilmLA to shoot in the area, authorities say that didn’t give them a “get out of jail free” card to touch the structure.
Chamber of Horrors
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which guards the sign’s rights more fiercely than a dragon, says they were kept completely in the dark.
Steve Nissen, CEO of the Chamber, fumed:
”The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce did not grant a license or permission of any kind… nor did anyone seek a license or permission.”
Under California law, trespassing on the sign is a misdemeanor that can land a person in the slammer for up to six months and hit them with a hefty $1,000 fine.
Sign of the Times?
This isn’t the first time the Hollywood sign has been the victim of a high-profile prank. In 2017, the landmark was famously edited to read “Hollyweed” by a local artist.
However, following a string of similar stunts, security was beefed up with thermal cameras, 24-hour sensors, and a permanent police presence.
Sweeney’s midnight mission appears to have bypassed a sophisticated security net designed to stop exactly this kind of “guerrilla marketing.”
The stunt comes just as Sweeney’s new brand—reportedly backed by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos—prepared for its official launch this week. But instead of popping champagne, the star might be prepping for a date with a judge.
