LONDON – A MET Police sergeant has been booted off the force after being found guilty of a “despicable” sexual assault on a woman.
Sgt Leo Boateng was sacked without notice yesterday after a disciplinary panel ruled his conduct was so severe it breached the highest standards of professional behavior.
Despite being acquitted of rape at a criminal trial last year, the Met’s own misconduct hearing found it proven that Boateng had subjected his victim to a serious sexual assault at a South London home.
The shamed officer—who was based at the Central West Command—launched his attack while off-duty on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
The Sun can reveal that when the victim came forward two months later, Boateng didn’t just deny the claims—he spun a web of lies to save his own skin.
Detectives revealed the crooked cop:
Lied to interviewing officers about where his mobile phone was.
Gave a fake account about an email chain containing messages between himself and his victim.
Superintendent Alexandra Bingley slammed the officer’s actions, stating: “Sgt Boateng’s actions were despicable, made all the worse by his deceit in attempting to cover them up.”
She added: “Despite Sgt Boateng being found not guilty at court, we have still been able to prove gross misconduct and remove him from the organisation.”
Boateng has now been placed on the College of Policing’s “barred list,” meaning he can never work as a copper again.
The Met, which is fighting to rebuild public trust following a string of scandals, said the dismissal was part of their “drive to improve culture and standards.”
