VILLA PARK, UK – Aston Villa roared back to winning ways last night, dispatching Maccabi Tel Aviv with a clinical 2-0 victory that has the claret and blue faithful dreaming of European glory.

The atmosphere at Villa Park was electric, and Unai Emery’s boys delivered exactly what the fans wanted: three points and a massive clean sheet.

It was skipper JOHN McGINN who broke the deadlock right on the stroke of half-time. He picked up the ball 30 yards out and unleashed an absolute SCREAMER that dipped and swerved past the helpless Maccabi keeper.

    GOAL OF THE SEASON contender!

The visitors were bamboozled by the pace and power of Villa’s midfield engine room and barely managed a meaningful shot on target.

Maccabi’s defence held tight for much of the second half, but the inevitable sealer came in the 79th minute.

Young JAIME RAMSEY showed blistering pace to latch onto a through-ball, steady himself, and coolly slot the ball into the far corner. Clinical finish from the youngster!
Two goals, zero conceded, and job done.

The win ensures Villa move nicely up the group table. They now look forward to the weekend feeling like absolute kings.

    VILLA VERDICT:
Star Man: John McGinn. The Scottish pocket rocket ran the show and scored a worldie.
Ref Watch: Kept the game flowing, but missed a dodgy tackle in the second half. A seven out of ten showing.
