PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State — The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has held a Thanksgiving ceremony to express gratitude for the successful and incident-free celebration of its 25th anniversary across the Niger Delta region.
Speaking at the event, held at the NDDC Event Centre in Port Harcourt, the Commission’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, emphasised the critical importance of giving thanks for the agency’s achievements over the years.
Dr. Ogbuku stated that thanksgiving is an essential way to seek divine guidance, noting that showing gratitude, even amidst challenges, can lead to a positive turnaround. He attributed the Commission’s milestones over the past 25 years entirely to the benevolence of God.
“We have sought the face of God in a week-long spiritual activity, denying the body and flesh, for God to intervene in the affairs of the Commission because in every journey in life, there are bound to be challenges,” Dr. Ogbuku said. “We believe that though there are challenges, God can make us overcome with our prayers and supplications.”
The Chief Executive Officer used the occasion to admonish staff to avoid any form of evil act, lest they incur God’s wrath, and reaffirmed the present NDDC Board’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta region.
He also maintained that the Management, under his leadership, would continue to work in harmony with staff, soliciting their sustained support to achieve the Board’s targeted goals.
The event saw the attendance of key officials, including the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, the Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, along with other Directors and staff of the Commission.
Earlier, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Patrick Ekade, also thanked God for the Commission’s successes.
Meanwhile, the NDDC fellowship Pastor, Mr. Udoma Sabbath, expressed belief that God had answered the staff’s prayers by providing a Board and Chief Executive Officer “that are determined to make a difference in the Niger Delta region.”
