SANAA, Yemen – A faction of the Yemeni Armed Forces, often associated with the Houthi movement says it has executed a major military operation against targets deep inside Israel using a newly developed “multiple warheads hypersonic ballistic missile.”
The group, in a statement issued from Sana’a, asserted that the operation utilized a missile designated “Palestine 2” to target “several sensitive targets in the occupied Yaffa region.”
The statement claimed the strike “successfully achieved its objectives,” forcing “millions of herds of usurping Zionists to flee to shelters and halting operations at Lod Airport” (also known as Ben Gurion International Airport).
The claims regarding the launch of a hypersonic missile and the extent of the damage or disruption could not be immediately and independently verified.
Israeli defense officials have not immediately commented on the specific claims of a hypersonic missile strike or the reported impact on the Tel Aviv area and Lod Airport.
Israel often maintains strict secrecy regarding successful strikes within its territory.
The statement explicitly framed the action as a retaliation for the “crimes of genocide and the dangerous escalation being perpetrated by the Israeli enemy against our people in the Gaza Strip” and in support of “the oppressed Palestinian people.”
The group has launched numerous long-range drone and missile attacks toward Israel since the start of the conflict in Gaza, all of which Israel claims to have intercepted or failed to reach their targets.
Air Defense and Shipping Ultimatum
In a separate claim within the same release, the Yemeni faction stated that its air defenses successfully “intercepted a number of combat formations” during a recent Israeli aggression against Yemen, forcing some aircraft to retreat and thwarting part of the attack.
Most significantly, the statement included a severe warning to international maritime traffic in the region, dramatically escalating the threat to global shipping.
“The Yemeni Armed Forces call on all civilian and military companies and vessels to exit the theater of operations in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, or transiting through them, to identify themselves and reveal their identities,” the statement read, “Otherwise, they will be subject to targeting, and they will bear full responsibility.”
This ultimatum represents a widening of the group’s declared scope of maritime interdiction, which previously focused primarily on vessels linked to or destined for Israel.
The new, broader warning poses a direct challenge to the international coalition naval forces operating in the area to secure one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
The statement concluded with a vow to “continue to carry out more operations, Allah willing, at an escalating pace, in defense of the country, as part of confronting the Israeli aggression, and in support of our steadfast brothers in Gaza until the aggression against them is halted and the siege is lifted.”
