GAZA, Palestine – New pictures have emerged from the Gaza Strip even during ongoing ceasefire. The Benjamin Netanyahu-led Israeli government has imposed blockade following refusal of the Islamic Resistant Movement, Hamas to accede to his request to extend Phase I of the ceasefire deal, following expiration of that phase.
But instead of moving into Phase II of the deal which requires complete cessation of hostility and withdrawal of the Israel Defence Forces, IDF from Gaza and release of all the remaining captives in Hamas custody and Palestinian prisoners, Israel is seeking extension for his personal interest to save his government from collapse, following threat from his cabinet.
But Hamas has insisted on moving on to Phase II according to schedule in the ceasefire deal. Although, representatives of the Israeli government and those of Hamas are now meeting in Qatar, the way forward is still not clear.
While Netanyahu continues to move the goal post, those bearing the brunt of his personal interest are the children of Gaza, looking bony and exhausted.
As a result of the blockade, all the bakeries in Gaza are reported to have either closed or on the verge of closing due to lack of gas.
More worrisome is the decision of the Netanyhu government to cut off power to the only source of water supply to residents of the Gaza Strip starving them of needed source of clean water.
