GAZA, Palestine – The Islamic Resistant Movement in Palestine, Hamas has commended ongoing talks between representatives of President Donald Trump and the resistant.

Speaking on the talks, Media Advisor to Head of Hamas Political Bureau, Taher Al-Nono said the talks are centered on release of America captives in the Gaza Strip and the possibility of reaching a broader deal to end the war.

Al-Nonowho spoke to AlJazeera described the meeting with the Trump’s representatives as very beneficial for stability in the region.

“We welcome any change in the US administration’s thinking and call on it to take a serious step in dealing with the movement”, adding that there is a shift in US political discourse compared to previous administrations, with a tendency to find a comprehensive deal in the region.

He said that the Arab stance and popular pressure could lead to a change in Trump’s plan for displacement and that the Arab summit included points that can be built upon, stressing that the proposed plan is smart to confront the displacement scheme.

He however insisted that the internal Palestinian front must be reorganized based on partnerships and elections.

“There will be an upcoming meeting in Cairo to listen to the roadmap we should follow after the summit.

“We agreed in Cairo meetings to the Egyptian proposal to form a temporary support committee until a consensus government is formed and elections are held”.

He also insisted that there will be no extension of the first phase, and “we are committed to the ceasefire agreement while waiting for the start of the second phase negotiations”.

Hamas, he said sees no benefit in the presence of non-Palestinian forces in Gaza, and that it is difficult for the Palestinian people and Hamas to accept that.

He said that Netanyahu is the main obstacle to moving to the second phase of the agreement due to his alliance with the far-right.

“Mediators must pressure the occupation to start the second phase of negotiations, followed by the third phase.

“There are two options for the day after the war: forming a Palestinian national government to manage the West Bank and Gaza Strip or a community support committee”, Hamas said adding “We have suffered painful blows with the martyrdom of political and field commanders, but we remain steadfast in our positions and will not deviate from them”.
