January 19, 2015 – On Thursday, January 22, 2015, Yoruba sons and daughters from all walks of life, across the South-West States, will assemble in Abeokuta under the auspices of the Pan-Yoruba, socio-cultural and political organization, Afenifere Renewal Group (Ogun State Chapter) for a public lecture titled “Before Nigeria’s oil runs dry – options of development in the South-West”.
Yoruba Nation Assembles For Post-crude Oil Economic Development Discourse
The lecture to be delivered by erudite scholar and immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, is an effort to escalate the discourse within the South-West zone on the state of the Nation and provide deeper insight into the place of the South-West post-2015 national general elections.
The conversation at the lecture will provoke intellectual interrogation on the subject matter, stimulate proper course of action and illuminate the path the zone shall take during the elections.
The Chairman of the occasion is a distinguished son of Yorubaland, one of the most respected leaders in the zone, and defender of the South-West cause in contemporary Nigeria, retired Army General, Alani Akinrinade.
The event comes up at the June 12 Cultural Centre and the public across the spectra of the political parties, have been invited for the event.
The Coordinator of the programme, Chief Segun Odegbami MON, says that everyone interested in the politics and future of the South-West, beyond the political rhetoric of politicians, is invited to the lecture which promises to speak to the real issues, and separate facts from fiction.
