Lawmaker to seller of the snail who sent the Bolt driver: “Who is this stupid boy that you sent to my house, who is this foolish boy that you sent to my house.  How can this stupid idiot come to my  house and tell me that I am supposed to come and meet him in his car and pick up the snail I am supposed to buy from you. Can you imagine this rat, I can make this man disappear in the whole Nigeria and nothing will happen. I am not going to give this silly boy one Naira of my money.

ABUJA, Nigeria – Lawmaker representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in Abia State, Hon. Alexander Ikwegh is now with the FCT Police for assaulting a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseye, even threatening that he could make him disappear and that nothing will happen.

The lawmaker specifically slapped the Bolt driver three times for  daring to call him to come to his car and pick up the consignment.

In a statement,  Force Public Relations Officer, FCT, SP Josephine Adeh said her command received a report at the Maitama Divisional Headquarters regarding an incident involving a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya, and Hon. Alexander Ikwegh, who represents  Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

“The incident occurred on October 27, 2024, at a residence on Zamfara Crescent, Maitama, Abuja. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Hon. Ikwegh when a dispute arose concerning the method of delivery. During this altercation, Mr. Abuwatseya was reportedly physically assaulted”, the driver, she said.

She said the FCT Police Command expresses grave concern over Hon. Ikwegh’s dismissive attitude toward the office of the Inspector General of Police following the incident. After allegedly slapping the victim, he reportedly remarked with contempt, “You can go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police,” demonstrating a troubling disregard for the authority of law enforcement.

“Currently, the suspect is at the Maitama Police Station undergoing questioning”, she said, adding that the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, has mandated a thorough investigation into the matter.

“The Command is committed to conducting an impartial investigation and ensuring justice in all cases. Upon completion of the investigation, appropriate legal action will be taken”, she said.

However from the video of the incident online, the Bolt Driver had delivered a parcel of snail and called on the lawmaker to come out and pick the items, as usual. But the lawmaker was infuriated that the Bolt driver called him out instead of delivering the item to his door step and subsequently resulting to name calling before assaulting the driver.

Bolt Driver: “You have been insulting me and I have been quite.

Lawmaker: I pray that you insult me.  Can you please insult me. I am not going to call my policemen to beat you up, I will beat you up and I will show you that I am a big brother to you and I will slap the hell out of you and I will lie you down and lock you up in my generator house. How dare you? Why will you do that. Do you know who you are talking to. Do you know who I am because you saw me sitting outside here. Do you know who I am , I am a senator of the Federal Republic.

Bolt Driver: Are you slapping me.

lawmaker: I just did, slap me back.

Bolt Driver: I just got three slaps from this man.

Lawmaker: Call the Inspector General of Police and tell him, I slapped you. You came to my house and disrespected me.

Bolt driver: I didn’t disrespect you sir, I say pay me my money.
