LAGOS, Nigeria – Human rights advocate, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN and his son, Folarin better known as Falz have written to crossdresser and social media personality,  Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky accusing him of using his recent imprisonment to extort Nigerian artistes using their names.

They are demanding a formal retraction and public apology within 12 hours.

Bobrisky was quoted in a video by Vincent Otse, (Verydarkblackman) to have alleged that Falana on one occasion told him that N10 million would be needed to bribe  government officials who will process his application for pardon.

In another video, Bobrisky, Verydarkblackman said allegedly said in the telephone audio that he had paid N5 million upfront to a SAN to secure a federal government pardon and that the SAN requested N10 million as legal service.

In the letter, the duo threatened to proceed for a legal redress if Bobrisky fails to retract the offensive publication and follow it up with a public apology within the stated period.

In the letter, counsels from Falana and Falana chambers, Olorunfemi Akinyemi and Taiwo Olawanle, averred  that Bobrisky took advantage of his recent imprisonment to extort money from some artists and other members of the public, in a bid to secure a special cell for his confinement following his conviction by a court for abuse of the naira in May this year.

The letter added that  “It is undoubtedly clear that you set out to enrich yourself at the expense of our client’s reputation. In fact, you have since published a list of persons who believed your concocted story and donated millions of Naira to pay our client’s father to write a letter of pardon and bribe some unnamed public officers on your behalf.”

They added that Bobrisky’s decision to involve the Falanas in the criminal enterprise was a figment of his fertile imagination as the senior advocate was never briefed to write a letter of pardon for him or bribe officials for that process.

They stated that a failure to issue a formal retraction and apology as demanded within 12 (twelve) hours of the receipt of the letter, would make the law firm proceed to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, against Bobrisky for the alleged incendiary defamatory statements.
