Police arrests 349 people for stabbing, assault in Notting Hill Carnival

FULLHAM – Not less than 349 people have been arrested during the two day Notting Hill Carnival , the London Metropolitan Police has said.
According to the latest statement, 102 violent people were arrested on Sunday , while 247 others were nabbed on Monday.
The police confirmed a total of 61 incidents where officers were assaulted – 24 on Sunday and 37 on Monday.
“The assaults mostly involved kicks, punches or pushes. There were four incidents where officers were spat at, two where officers were head-butted and two where officers had glass bottles thrown at them”, the police said, adding that there were eight stabbings during the two day event.
“On Sunday, three people were stabbed. Two sustained non-life threatening injuries and one, a 32-year-old woman, remains in a critical condition.
“On Monday, five people were either stabbed or slashed. Three sustained non-life threatening injuries. Two men were taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition – one of the men is now stable and we await a further update on the second man”, the Met police said, adding that a 41-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital having sustained a head injury during an assault in Queensway at around 23:20hrs.
