34 children die due to food shortages in Gaza – Health Ministry

GAZA – The Gaza Ministry of Health has raised the alarm, warning that at least 34 children have died of severe food shortages in Northern Gaza.
Director Minister of Health, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh who was speaking to Al-Jazeera said the capability of the ministry is very weak with shortage of fuel.
He said that no food supplies have entered Gaza in the last two months.
“Our capabilities are very weak and the fuel shortage represents a major crisis for us.
“All health services are halted in hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip”, he said, adding
that occupation tanks are standing in front of Patients’ Friends Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip.
He said that the only source of fuel in the Gaza Strip is the World Health Organization, which a supplies the ministry with very small quantities.
“34 children have died due to severe food shortages in the northern Gaza Strip.
“For two months or more, no food supplies have entered the Gaza Strip”.
The director pointed out that there are 25,000 patients urgently needing treatment outside the Gaza Strip, but that only 5,000 have been able to leave.
He said members of the Algerian delegation performed surgeries in the northern Gaza Strip yesterday, thanking them for the feat under the dire situation.
He said the Rafah crossing must be opened immediately, adding that the situation is extremely dire.
