3 German cities bid to host European club finals in 2026 and 2027
FRANKFURT – Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Leipzig are bidding to host European club competition finals in 2026 and 2027, the German Football Federation (DFB) said on Wednesday.
The DFB said that the three have been submitted to the ruling body UEFA from an original pool of six cities. National federations can only submit one bidder per competition.
Stuttgart aims to host the women’s Champions League final in 2026 or 2027, while on the men’s side Frankfurt is bidding for the Europa League final and Leipzig for the Conference League decider.
All three stadiums are venues for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament. UEFA is set to decide on the venues for the 2026 and 2027 finals in May.
Germany has never hosted the Conference League final while it last staged the Europa League decider 2020 in Cologne and the women’s Champions League final 2015 in Berlin. The men’s 2025 Champions League final will be in Munich.
