ABIJAN – The Teranga Lions of Senegal emerged the superior side at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Abijan, defeating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 2-0.
Sarr put his side in the lead in the 16th minutes and the Teranga Lions held on the to the game until half time. The Teranga Lions came into the second half more determined with the Indomitable Lions waning in their spirt. The efforts of the Teranga Lions however paid off in the 71 minutes when Dialo made it 2-0 for his side.
The Indomitable Lions pulled one back in the 83rd minutes when Castilletto connected a loose ball with his head from Ntcham to give hope to his team bringing scores to 2-1.
The Teranga Lions came knocking again 5 minutes into extra time, when Mane connected a ball from Gueye to make it 3-1 against the Indomitable Lions.
The indomitable Lions intensified attack but the effort was not good enough ending the game 3-1 in favour of Cameroon.
However, Cameroon had more of ball possession, 53 percent against 47 by Senegal. The Indomitable Lions lost two chances to equalise and go into the lead but they lost it.
Senegal has now moved into the knock out stage of the tournament.
