WARRI, Delta, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force, NPF has begged Nigerians never to return slaps, even very hot ones, (wotowoto) received in the moment of heated arguments for their safety.
In a special message to aggrieved Nigerians who have imbibed the viral social media appellations, “No Gree for anybody”, Force Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe warned that returning hot slaps can be dangerous, especially in the current economic situation.
As he put it, if you return hot slaps, and the slapped faints and dies, the slapper will be arrested and would have to spend several nights behind bars even if autopsy, which may not come immediately confirms the contrary.
He said death in the circumstance could be treated as unintentional murder (manslaughter) depending on the cause of the death.
His exact words: “If someone slaps you and you retaliates, he falls and dies. It won’t be treated as self-defense, rather it will be treated as unintentional murder ( manslaigher), which all depends on the result of the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. But one thing I am sure of is that the suspect will be behind bars for a reasonable time.
