Knocks Sanwo-Olu over perpetual detention of Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate

OWERRI, Imo, Nigeria – President Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has said that recent demolitions carried out by the Lagos state Government were racially motivated.
Speaking on Arise News, Iwuanyanwu said he sent lawmakers and notable Igbos resident in Lagos to the area where the demolitions took place, adding that they brought various conflicting messages, forcing him to personally visit the area where he spent over 5 hours relating with residents of the area.
He said what the Lagos State Government is doing is bad, adding that Igbos are known for developing area where they live and that they are not as bad as they are being portrayed.
He said that at a time when there is so much economic hardship in the land, what the government ought to be doing is bring succour to residents and not for students and residents to leave their house in the morning only to return and discover that they have nowhere to lay their heads.
He said those land in question were legitimately acquired by Igbos from Omoniles even when the area was underdeveloped and that they were on the ground before government bought development.
He said in the circumstances, what government out to have done is not to carry out arbitrary demolishment but to go to and pay compensation to those affected, stressing , the area affected was never under government acquisition.
Iwuanyanwu who also spoke on the perpetual detention of Frederick Nwajago, the Eze Ndigbo Ajao Estate, noting that his continued detention because he said he was going to invite IPOB to protect Ndigbos in Lagos was against the rule of law, adding that he did not commit any act of treason and that the alleged offence was bailable.
