Bayern to renew contract with in form Leroy Sane long-term

 

MUNICH – Bayern Munich are aiming to renew the contract of their in-form Germany forward Leroy Sane beyond 2025, sporting director Christoph Freund has said.

Sane, 27, came to Bayern in 2020 and has gone through several ups and downs. But he is in outstanding form this season and scored his sixth goal in Sunday’s 3-0 Bundesliga win against Freiburg.

“We will certainly hold talks over the next weeks. He is an extraordinarily good player, a key player for Bayern Munich. It would be nice if he stays in Munich for a long time,” Freund said after the match.

“He is in good shape and he enjoys playing every three days. We all know that he is a really good footballer. But that he delivers so consistently is unusual and is of course a great joy.”

Coach Thomas Tuchel added: “A lot depends on his well-being. He can dominate opponents and make a difference. His talent is outstanding and he has the physical capabilities. He is a machine. We have a good rapport. But we also demand a lot from him.”
