Police bans public protest in Kano State
KANO – The Nigeria Police Force has prohibited protest in all parts of the state. In a statement, the Kano State Police command said it made the order following intelligence at its disposal about an impending protest.
The police said the planned protest is uncivil and criminal as a result of the fragile security situation in the state, which security forces have been trying to manage.
“It has come to our knowledge that both the APC and the NNPP members are currently mobilizing rented crowds in the guise of Civil Society Coalition and without clearance from the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and without prior approval from the security agencies in the state”, the police said, adding that the protest is against national security.
“Both organizers as well as the umbrella body should note that any attempt to disrespect NLC and the Security Agencies in the state, by playing around the fragile security situation, which the combined security agencies have been managing, is not only uncivil, criminal but also an offence against National Security”, the police authority warned.
